About Black Pepper Essential Oil:

The word ‘pepper’ has been taken from the Latin word piper, which was derived from the Sanskrit word pippali. Black pepper was originated in India first and then It was traded between India and Egypt. Black pepper is indigenous only to a small province in southwest India called Kerala.

In recent times many countries have started growing black pepper. It is a flowering vine that can climb around 20 feet or more.

How is Black Pepper Oil Made?

Black pepper essential oil is made via steam distillation. The unripe, sun-dried peppercorns undergo the steam distillation which produces a yield of nearly 2%.

High pressure steam is filtered through the peppercorns until the oils can be separated from the floral water.

What does Black Pepper Essential Oil Smell Like?

Strong and spicy smelling, the black pepper essential oil is very reminiscent of clove oil. Sweet and spicy, it is widely used in dished and can be easily recognized by its unque and rich aroma.

Chemical composition

The black pepper oil is composed of various chemical constituents and includes the following; a-thujone, a-pinene, camphene, sabinene, b-pinene, a-phellandrene, myrcene, limonene, caryophyllene, b-farnesene, b-bisabolene, linalool and terpinen-4-ol.

Cautions: Dilute well before use; do not use internally. Use/apply in moderation, too much quantity can harm kidneys. In certain cases, balck pepper oil may cause skin irritation in some individuals; it is recommended to go through a quick skin test before proper use. Rinse eyes in case it comes in contact with eyes.

Storage: To transfer the oils from one place to other, always use metal container or aluminium bottle. Generally, keep it in the dark to increase shelf life.
