Black pepper essential oil is made via steam distillation. The unripe, sun-dried peppercorns undergo the steam distillation which produces a yield of nearly 2%.
High pressure steam is filtered through the peppercorns until the oils can be separated from the floral water.
What does Black Pepper Essential Oil Smell Like?
Strong and spicy smelling, the black pepper essential oil is very reminiscent of clove oil. Sweet and spicy, it is widely used in dished and can be easily recognized by its unque and rich aroma.
Chemical composition
The black pepper oil is composed of various chemical constituents and includes the following; a-thujone, a-pinene, camphene, sabinene, b-pinene, a-phellandrene, myrcene, limonene, caryophyllene, b-farnesene, b-bisabolene, linalool and terpinen-4-ol.
Storage: To transfer the oils from one place to other, always use metal container or aluminium bottle. Generally, keep it in the dark to increase shelf life.
